 Over the past several weeks we have been learning many different strategies for solving addition and subtraction stories.  Students are using the open number line, decomposing numbers (breaking apart tens and ones) as well as using base 10 pieces to build and model problems. This week they illustrated and wrote some fun word problems for their peers to solve. We also did some review work with naming and counting coins. Money BINGO is always a hit!

 Poetry is always one of my favorite writing units. The kids got so immersed in poetry books this week and their excitement to become poets has been awesome! We spent some time partner reading poetry and then met as a group to share out the things each partnership noticed about poetry.  What makes it different from other kinds of writing?  Then we jumped right in and started writing 6-word poems. They were amazing! We will be posting some readings to Seesaw this week for you to enjoy!
